Zesty Steak Seasoning Marinade

I’ve been experimenting again since it’s grilling season and tonight I came up with this marinade. I am dubbing it the zesty steak seasoning marinade because its slightly sweet with a lot of zip from the spice. I can’t wait to see how the steak tastes after sitting in this marinade for a few hours because it was tasty enough to keep sampling!

Zesty Steak Seasoning Marinade

  • 1 T steak seasoning + 1 tsp. steak seasoning (probably just about any kind will do)
  • 1/2 tsp. leaf oregano
  • 1 tsp. basil
  • 1/2 T garlic powder
  • 3 turns ground peppercorn (from a peppercorn grinder) or about 1/2 T ground pepper
  • 2 tsp. sugar (any kind, I used stevia extract)
  • 1/2 tsp. sage (rubbed)
  • 1/4 tsp. cayenne
  • 1/4 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1/4 tsp. ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 T Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 T honey mustard (used Ken’s)
  • 2 T BBQ sauce (any kind, I used Big Rick’s)
  • 1/4 cup water

Mix ingredients in a blender/food processor adding water last. Mix for 1 minute. Check taste. If too salty/garlicky, add sugar by 1/2 tsp. and blend for an additional 30-45 seconds. You do want it to be a strong flavor as it is a marinade.

Refrigerate until ready. Marinate steak/chicken for 4-8 hours prior to grilling.

Probably marinates about 1-2 lbs of steak/chicken.

Christmas 2010

This year was so much from with LittleB.  Santa decided to come a couple days early since LittleB was such a good girl.  hehe. We had a wonderful morning in our new house opening gifts with our little one.  Then after we opened presents we headed  to R’s folks house.  We spent the night at R’s dads and got up Christmas Eve morning and opened presents there. Then later that day we headed to B’s parents where we celebrated with them that night.  Christmas morning we had lunch and R’s mom was able to  come over to enjoy it with us.  Later that night we went to B’s brother’s and opened gifts there. By then LittleB was a pro at unwrapping!  She was so cute every time she unwrapped a gift she would say “open it”.

Halloween Time 2010

LittleB had a wonderful Halloween! She was a puppy for Halloween. She went to Boo at the Zoo, Parents As Teachers, Play group party, Daddy’s work, Papa and Nana’s, and at home.  That’s a lot of trick-or-treating, and needless to say we still have candy!  We have been really lucky to have such wonderful weather so LittleB got to go trick-or-treating at Papa and Nana’s house - B’s hometown on a four wheeler pulling a trailer that we decorated.

LittleB is growing up so fast…

Gosh it feels like forever since I have blogged. Oh wait, it has been awhile. My reason for not blogging has been packing and moving. That’s right we moved! Don’t worry we didn’t move too far. It was just across the street to a bigger house. LittleB did really well with the move and didn’t seem to mind her new room. We think it helped because her room was the first to be unpacked. She even had her bed on the first night that we stayed in our new home, but mommy and daddy slept on an air mattress. The things we do for our kids!  :D

Some of you may wonder what LittleB has been up to. She is always on the go and loves to help. If I’m cleaning she is right there wanting to help. If only her willingness to help would continue as she gets older. She is also a very fast learner – at 18 months she knows numbers (1-3,5), letters (ABC), colors (Purple, Blue, Yellow, Green, and Black), Shapes (Circle, Heart, and Star). She know pretty much all her body parts and even likes to point them out on mommy and daddy. The other night we were driving in the car and she points out the window and says moon.

Around 17 months she decided to show quite a bit of interest in the potty. She will say potty and go to the bathroom and grab her potty chair. She has only “gone” a few times but still at least she is showing interest in it and knows the words potty, pee, and poop. Sometimes she knows she has to go but by the time we get in there she has already gone. I’m hoping she continues to show interest and is easy to potty train! Isn’t that every parent’s hope?  :D

Here is some pictures of LittleB between 17-18 Months.
